i think he was/is on a crusade to draw out bullies (but from the past), I've since re-read a lot of his posts and he seem's a very intelligent Deadhead. Though very opinionated and "expert", could be he has personal issue's. We all do.
His jumping on a bunch of us after "drawing" us out...too serious for a fun board methinks. I've posted & emailed things I'd rather cancel after the fact. The Internet makes communication waaaaay too ez! Add a bad day or dark mood, and you're 1 click from embarrasment. In the old daze, you'd have to write, get a stamp, go thru a hassle to communicate a fleeting "mood". now it's rather ez to embarass oneself on the Internet (I've been there!).
I enjoyed his intelligent posts until he seemed to "turn" on a few of us.
I, for one, am well aware of my faults and don't need a set-up flaming.
Speaking the "truth" is one thing, but speaking the truth in love...is uplifting, not damning. I was bullied to hell & back in gradeschool & the 1st year of highschool, but i got over it.
If he had anything to do with the parent post from Kick Yoda (which i believe is fiction) -Funny! Anyone out there ever mix ashes from an urn with kind bud and smoke it in a bong? Trippy and an amusing concept.(but i do have a warped sense of humour)
The handle- Liamfinnegan is most likely retired, (hell,I've gone thru a few names myself)
But only the mod's know the IP's of us.

well, we are Deadheads and that's a lot of pressure...years of drug abuse and flashbacks-lol.
I think most of us could get along quite well-in person.
Outside of a few boards, I, for one, am very shy with most biped strangers. I've been to many shows where i did'nt meet anyone new on a personal level. Writing letters? I'm lucky if I've written 1 letter(personal kind) every 5 years-avg! But here, I'm an F'n keyboard warrior-lol.
I'm the guy at the shows who walks about, observing & people watching, but rarely meeting anyone(other than passing dubbies and the banter therein).
Even this late in life, posting has helped me out of my shell-it seems. I'd like to met a few posters in "real life".
Maybe i will on 10/1/06 here >

10-1-89 my third show, first run ( what can I say? It's not my fault I was born when I was ). I remember Phils O1 intro being real nifty. Had a great time but I didn't really get my mind eaten until the 12-6-89 Earthquake show.
Good luck on your run! Remember - no matter how fast or slow you go you will definately get across faster than by car : )

Hey Fellas - Thanks for joining in the "Come back Liam" thread.
I was thinking about all of us and realized we can't afford to lose a person like Liam. We are nothing more than Trekkies or role-playing gamers, we are Grateful Geeks. Our group would be easily saterized(sp?), just like in the movies "Best In Show" or "A Mighty Wind". We simply know and care too much about a topic which is distinctly unimportant to most.
I, for one, am proud of that. BUT, it's hard to find people in the real world who care about my favorite SOTM!

I'm pretty confidant he's still here or will be back under a different name. I think anyone who can dish it out like that guy is probably thick skinned enough to take it too. Look at the beginning of the thread, I'm pretty sure he's having a good time with it. I think all that junk about bullies and the like was just a put on, if not I don't care if he comes back or not. I'm not a big sympathizer with melodrama and whoah is me whining. Not with my kids and definately not with adults. I'm 100% sure he's just doing this for the perverse pleasure, most intersting people get perverse pleasure out of SOMETHING.
I know what you mean about people relating though. We are kinda geeks. But like the line goes " it's an obsession but it's pleasin" Can't help you out with SOTM though. That songs ALLWAYS brings it down for me. Allways did, never liked it, but heh, if it gets you off then that's what it's all about right? " Sometimes the songs that we hear are just songs of our own"

actually, i was referring to a long-forgotten thread which went for days in all directions. These threads are kinda' like GD songs. We start with a topic, then wander-off into ancillary topics but usually find our way back to the focus of the thread. We're the jamband of forum posters.

i sure hope i wasn't part of Liam jumping ship due to my "satirical vitriolic shenanigans." Like I said before, i thought his response to me and several others he called out were absolutely hilarious. gave me the laugh (in a good way) that i needed that night.
me and my employees get a kick out of abusive humor - but then again, they know me personally and Liam doesn't. I think i should keep that in mind before i go off on another poster "in good fun."
C'mon back Liam buddy - we are all friends here :)

Come on Dire! You don't really feel responsible for this do you? Nothing got heated until he came back with this mellow dramatic post. HE was the one that started getting all personal about it with the whole people beating wives etc. thing. I can take abusive humor just like you. FIrst he got off on getting the reation he wanted now we're supposed to get on our knees and beg? I'm not offended or mad, I thought it was ALL funny, but I'm definately not going to beg him to come back either.

lol - no, i really don't feel totally responsible, just tryin to make "nice" in case he was too thin skinned to take it. You are right - we (I) should not be getting on our knees (that is my girlfriends job - lol). (man, she'd kill me for that comment)
Like you,I was certianly not offended or mad, so if he couldn't reap what he sowed - so be it, i agree with ya.
I'm pretty sure i had a little heated exchange with High Flow weeks or months ago (can't even remember what it was or if it just in my imagination) - but he and I are apparently cool and trading - at least our skin is thicker than poor Liam's. but then again, Liam is dead so i guess he wont be posting much here anymore. lmao
ps - your discs came in and i am picking them up tomorrow or friday - Thanks Man :)
